Cruise The World With Us 2026

Why A Visa?

Thursday – March 12, 2026 – at sea to Manila day 3

Today’s featured image is a screengrab from the eTravel website hosted by the Philippines. Before we left on this cruise, I checked the U.S. Department of State website to determine what countries would require visas. That website did, and still does, indicate that no visa was required of U.S. citizens if you stay less than 30 days. 2 days ago, we received notice that each of us must complete an online visa request before we arrive in Manila. This request applied to all passengers (as far as I know). The process was confusing, but we eventually received a QR code for each of us that must be shown when we present our passports.

Not a lot to report for today. The World Cruise game was to guide a ball down 2 ropes and drop the ball over a bucket. The ropes were attached to the railing of deck 14 and the bucket was placed on deck 13. There are a few photos showing the setup. Again, Air did not win – but at least we were able to deposit a ball in the bucket (2 teams didn’t get any deposits).

Jan liked the look of her white chocolate mousse dessert at dinner so there is a picture of it in the gallery. The entertainment for the evening was a repeat of singer Mimma Barra. This evening she honored Liza Minnelli by singing some of her more memorable songs – Cabaret and New York, New York were a couple. It was also Liza’s 80th birthday today.

We still have 2 days at sea until we reach Manila. The captain did inform us today that we would be arriving at 10:30 am – 5 1/2 hours earlier than on the posted schedule. I believe that happened because we left the Cairns area earlier than planned.

Here are today’s photos.
