Sunset

Friday – January 24, 2025

It isn’t that there hasn’t been a sunset every evening – of course there has. However we are usually eating dinner or are facing the wrong direction to see it. However, today we saw a beautiful sunset which is the featured image of this post. You’ll find more of the sunset on the video/photo page.

Today was just another day in paradise – calm seas, warm weather and lots of people to wait on you hand and foot. I had a nice (but too much) breakfast called the MSC Breakfast Express. Included was sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, sautéed mushrooms, hash brown patties and diced fried potatoes. Add to that an English muffin with jam and juice and you are full! I do wish they had glazed donuts – and apparently so do the wait staff because when I bring it up, they look like they would like to eat one instantly.

We missed the World Cruise game yesterday. This time they had to “carry” empty aluminum soda cans on the end of a straw with hands clasped behind their back. If the hands can unclasped you were disqualified. Fire won that contest. We need to check the leaders board to see where everyone stands.

Got some news about our “off ship” excursion in Australia. Prices have been confirmed and it looks like there is a group of 7 (including us) who will be accompanied by at least 1 staff member from the ship. We will be seeing rainforest, Great Barrier Reef, Alice Springs in the center of the country near the world’s largest monolith (Uluru) and ending in Sydney at the Four Seasons Hotel. We fly from Sydney to Male in the Maldives to relax on the beach and rejoin the ship the next day (after we take a ride in a seaplane to see some of the Maldives islands from the air. We hope we will have Internet access while in Australia so we can keep you up to date.

We had a couple nice desserts yesterday – you’ll see them in the photos. Following dinner we viewed the beautiful sunset from our balcony then went to the theatre for a musical presentation titled “Yellow Submarine”. I’ll bet you can guess what music was performed. There are several clips from the songs. By the way, the clips we upload have to be less than a certain number of bytes – that is why the clips are less than a minute each.

Tomorrow we arrive in Buenos Aires and will be there overnight departing around 6:00 pm on Sunday. Most of what we know about Argentina comes from the musical “Evita”. We’re looking forward to picking up some history as we go on at least one excursion here.
