At Sea Again

Thursday – January 30, 2025

I’m liable to use the title of this post several more times during our voyage because we have 68 days at sea. Not that it is bad, but sometimes there isn’t a lot to report – like today. The featured photo is a frame from the sunrise video you find on the video/photo page.

We had a World Cruise Game today – this time held in the Tiger Bar rather than on deck 13 by the main pool. The challenge was to throw a clothes hanger at a hanger rod and have it “stick” (i.e., not fall on the floor). The distance between thrower and rod wasn’t extreme – 5 or 6 feet. The challenge, however, was too much for 3 of the 4 teams. Each team was given 5 minutes to cycle through its members for them to try and “hang a hanger”. Fire was the only successful team and they were only successful 1 time – but that was enough to win this game. I think Fire was the overall leader prior to today so this definitely puts them in the lead.

Following World Cruise Games Jan and Kelsey met with one of our table mates – Kelly – to play “trash”. Kelly was not familiar with this game so, of course, Kelsey kicked butt and beat both Kelly and Jan.

This afternoon there was a musical presentation by the classical group. It was another opera prep course that Kelsey attended and photographed. I believe the actual music will be the evening show on Friday.

Jan had what she described as a really good starter this evening – schrimp scampi. For dessert things got a bit mixed up and Jan ended up with Jeff’s dessert. He left early and didn’t eat his dessert because he had scheduled a massage for a time he thought he would have finished his dinner. There is a photo of the alleged error with today’s pictures.

This evening’s entertainment was by a single singer backed by a 6 piece group (piano, guitar, percussion, drums, bass and electronic keyboard). His heritage is mother – Japanese, father – Italian, born in – Brazil. He currently lives in Italy. He sang some universally known songs and was pretty good. The backup band was also good.

This evening the captain announced that we might not be going on any excursions at the Falklands. The weather is “iffy” and he was going to wait until he had a better idea of conditions before calling off excursions. His primary concern was rough seas in the area as we will be tendered at Port Stanley. This means a 30 minute ride in a smaller boat from our ship to the dock. I can imaging that in rough water that ride would not be a good memory. Time will tell what happens tomorrow. I hope we are able to go on the excursion we have planned – it will give us the opportunity to see other species of penguins.

Here is where you’ll find today’s videos and photos.
