We didn’t do much yesterday – just relaxed during our first full day at sea. I was able to capture a sunrise as the ship was moving and you’ll see the sun move from the center of the screen to the right as our direction changed slightly to the East. As I picked up the camera after capturing the sunrise I noticed this white “stuff” on the railing of our balcony. Surprise, surprise! When salt water evaporates it leaves salt! (see photo)
We attended a meeting about the excursions that are being offered as a part of the cruise (i.e., included in the cruise package) and also found out about some additional excursions that are available. One that we are interested in covers the time between Perth, Australia and Male, Maldives when we would be at sea for 7 days. The excursion would take us to the Great Barrier Reef, rainforests in that area, then to the largest monolith in the world near Alice Springs – Uluru. After spending a couple days there we would fly to Sydney for an evening on the wharf near the Sydney Opera House then next day fly from Sydney to Male. Following the meeting we had lunch with 2 couples from the Orlando, Florida area – twin sisters and their husbands. They have cruised extensively. We asked what their favorite cruise was – both answered at the same time – Alaska! So some Summer we may be wandering that direction.
Had some nice food yesterday so I’ve included a few photos. At lunch ship-made chocolate ice cream was served – very nice! For dinner some of the selections included Veal Royale with pear, plum and almond, Crepe Suzette and Bavarian Cake.
I believe the event most memorable was the show in the theatre in the evening – A Circus Story. The performers sang, juggled, rode bicycles, danced, hung by their hair while twirling and performed acrobatics on a trampoline. I included a still as the featured photo for this post and the last item on the photo page is a video clip during the middle of the show. Wish we had the flexibility of the performers!
