Cruise The World With Us 2026

At sea to Barbados day 4

Wednesday, January 14, 2026 – cruise day 10

Featured photo is of the Sweet Temptation Buffet. The buffet was held on deck 13 midship at 11:00. Kelsey was hoping it included chocolate – it did not – but it did have many different creations from fruit (as you can see from the photos).

Breakfast in the dining room was interesting. Jan and I were seated with a couple from Germany who live close to the castle Disney used to create Sleeping Beauty castle at Disneyland. The castle name is a tongue-twister – Neuschwanstein. Click here if you’d like to know more about it. We had breakfast with this couple on Tuesday as well, so it was a surprise to see them again since breakfast seating is random and handled by the waiters in the restaurant. We were joined mid-breakfast by a couple from Canada who live on the St. Lawrence River East of Lake Ontario. As part of my order I requested an English muffin with jam. What they brought me was an English muffin cut in half with a piece of ham on each half (see photo). This time I get the error as opposed to the day I was given 3 omelets in place of a 3-egg omelet.

Jan decided not to attend Tai-Chi because her left knee is bothering her. We found a table near the main pool, and I began to update this website with text for earlier days in our trip. We were joined by Yvonne who was on the 2025 cruise and had a friendship with Jan from that trip. When she left it was almost time for today’s World Cruise game – transport. The object is for 2 people to hold a ball between their foreheads and follow a path across the deck from starboard to port side. This competition was run with 2 teams at a time to narrow the field from 4 to 2 and then from 2 to 1. Air didn’t make the cut for the first round. The 2 teams that did make the finals tied. They were offered each 1/2 of a point or given the choice to run the race over to see if a single team would triumph. Those teams chose to run the race again and Earth team was the victor.

During the afternoon I was in the cabin typing more text for these posts while Jan and Kelsey roamed the ship and attended Dancing Tea Time. I noticed we were sailing through the Saragossa Sea and took a photo of the seaweed from our balcony. We saw this unusual area last year as we sailed from Cape Verde to Brazil. I found it interesting to read about the Saragossa Sea – you can too by clicking here.

Tonight was Mediterranean night in the dining room. The napkins were folded differently than usual, the waiters were dressed in vests, and the menu was oriented to cuisine from that area. I had a Greek salad, lamb and for dessert, Baklava (see photo).

The entertainment tonight was an abbreviated version of the opera “Carmen”. Earlier in the day there was an informative meeting about the opera to give attendees the story of Carmen (since the opera is sung in French). Kelsey went to that meeting so she could keep us informed during the show.

Following Carmen there was a party on deck 13 with the Sweet Temptation Buffet rolled out at 11:00. Jan and I didn’t eat more – Kelsey brought a few items back to our cabin to snack on. Tonight is the third night in a row we will set out clocks back 1 hour. We will do that again on Thursday night as we approach Barbados. At times it is hard to determine a city in the new time zone – last night it was Nuuk, Greenland.
