Cruise The World With Us 2026

Unusual mime

Sunday – January 18, 2026 – at sea to Curacao

Today’s featured photo is deceiving with a person’s head lower than you would expect. I don’t like mimes, but I could tolerate this mime because he wasn’t in white-face and dressed like what you would expect of a mime. More about the performance later.

Not much happening today – most of the day we relaxed as the ship cruised to Willemstad, Curacao. Today’s World Cruise game was catapult. Using a towel the object was for 2 members of the team to launch a ball from one side of the pool deck to the other and have the ball land (and stay) in buckets with various point values. We didn’t win today so no points for Air from this game. You’ll find a few photos of the game in today’s photo gallery.

The entertainment for the evening was a performer who was on the 2025 World Cruise – Daniel Mime. I don’t know if that is his “real” last name, but it certainly is fitting for the type of entertainment he provides. The opening of the show has a large egg on the stage from which an ostrich appears to emerge. The neck and head are one of Daniel’s arms and hand. He had a clever way of presenting the ostrich in several situations including dressing up for a date. The end of this skit has him undressing so that the ostrich effectively loses all the black body feathers and appears to be like a plucked chicken.

Several of his other skits involved clothing where the clothing seems to have a life of its own. There is a photo in which he is able to make it appear he can move his head from the top of his neck to what looks to be his waist. His final skit involved 3 members from the audience who are to mimic the actions he makes. It was cute and the 3 “volunteers” played along well.

Tomorrow, we dock at Willemstad, Curacao. Jan and I last visited there in December, 1978. I imagine there will be some changes from our last visit.
