Let The Games Begin

Sunday – January 12, 2025

As explained in yesterday’s post, we are part of a group named “Air” that will be competing in different challenges each day at sea. Today’s featured photo is the first game – how many can you cram into a small space. More on that later

Video 1 is the sunrise from today. I like it when clouds are a part of the videos as was the case today.

The World Cruise games all take place on deck 13 near the main pool. Photo 2 shows a portion of that area. There were 4 spaces marked with movable barriers. Each group was to get as many of its members inside their area. Earth had 113, Fire 133, Water 135 and Air 135. When the time to fill the areas was up, the MC began counting the number in each section. Photo 3 shows the counting of Water. Our group was last so we listened while 516 people were counted in Italian. Tomorrow’s game is to make a mountain of shoes and measure the height.

Photo 4 shows a map of MSC Magnifica. Our room is very close to the red dot on deck 9 near one of the 4 elevator groups. We get off the elevator, go left to the hallway, turn left and way about 4 cabins to 9115.

I didn’t feel great for most of the day – no energy or appetite – so Jan and Kelsey went to dinner and the entertainment without me. They took some photos and video so you have an idea what happened in the evening, Photo 5 was Jan’s entry – cod. Photo 6 is her dessert (the name of which she doesn’t remember – probably because it didn’t taste that good).

Following dinner Jan and Kelsey went to the theatre production – A Night With Queen. There were around 2 dozen performers who sang and danced to Queen songs you would all probably recognize. Kelsey captured photo 7 and videos 8 and 9 from the performances.

For today’s status report from the captain he said we have 35,214 nautical miles remaining, it was 66 degrees F and we have 2,760 meters of water below our keel.
