Cruise The World With Us 2026

Bomboloni!

Saturday – February 14, 2026 – at sea to Pago Pago day 3

The featured image today is of desserts made fresh in the ship’s bakery – donuts. We learned that the food service manager was going to serve bomboloni at a party on Valentine’s Day (Cruise Director Sonja told us after the theater production on Friday). Sonja didn’t tell us what they were – just the name. We checked online and found out what they are and how they are made. Kelsey brought 3 back to our cabin and shared 1 with Jan.

We started today as we do most days in the restaurant for breakfast. We have a group of “regulars” we sit with – so much so that when we arrive the hostess will tell us that “our friends are waiting for us” and we always have the same table for 8. We usually have the same wait staff who bring us pastry, beverages and juice. You’ll find a photo in today’s gallery with 4 of the people who join us and the waiters who provide pastry, beverages and juice. They know us well enough to bring us the drinks and pastries we like without asking (usually). The 2 empty chairs in the foreground are many times occupied by a couple who live in Malaysia – they had not arrived when I took the photo.

After breakfast we stopped by the “tote board” for World Cruise artistic competition to see where Air stood – 3rd place – through the singing and dancing competitions. Next we went to a photo-op site that had been erected for Valentine’s Day and took photos of us with the heart and cupids. Near that area is where Jan picks up a daily sudoku and she got a copy of number 39 to work on back at our cabin.

The weather was nice today, so we spent some time on the balcony just relaxing. Jan and Kelsey didn’t go to tea in the afternoon (as they have many days at sea).

At dinner the restaurant had a decoration inside the entry door and the waiters paraded around singing and carrying signs appropriate for the day. Jan ordered one of the special Valentine’s Day desserts – there is a photo of that in the gallery.

As noted above concerning the bombolonis, there were plenty of them at a special display on deck 13 later in the evening. Everyone we have talked to about the donuts says they were delicious and wished they had grabbed a couple to take back to their cabins – even the World Cruise game staff.

Here you will find the photos from Valentine’s Day.
