Cruise The World With Us 2026

At sea to Barbados day 3

Tuesday, January 13, 2026 – cruise day 9

Featured photo is of maintenance personnel trying to figure out how to repair our shower. This has been an ongoing issue since January 7th. The contractors who were hired to convert 2 cabins into 1 larger cabin didn’t finish the job in the bathroom. This larger cabin is supposed to be an accommodation for up to 4 passengers. There is 1 small towel bar in the bathroom, no cup holder near the sink, no pull-out clothesline and very little space to put cosmetics. It is nice to have a larger shower and a bathtub, but the missing items seem to me to be “no brainers” for inclusion in a bathroom. The lack of these items and the water issue with our shower have now become the responsibility of the hotel side of our ship to address. They have made attempts to correct the water issue but do not have the necessary materials to make needed repairs. My understanding is that MSC will not be doing business with whatever company made the not-complete modifications to MSC Magnifica. There are other ships in their fleet that will be modified to include Yacht Club cabins and that work will be done by some other vendor. The staff onboard have all bent over backward for us to make things right – I have nothiing but compliments for what they have done/have tried to do.

The World Cruise game today was called “Mini Golf” but it wasn’t like the mini golf you may have played. I waited in line to hit a ball and never got the opportunity. The object is to putt a golf ball across the deck by the pool into Dixie-type cups of various sizes that were taped to the deck. The smaller the cup, the larger the score. When putted, the ball must remain in the cup. If it bounced out it was not counted. I had planned to take a picture of Air team members after I had tried my luck so didn’t have that opportunity either. Jan and I think it would have worked better if our team leaders had told the team members to line up single file rather than as a “bunch” near the golf ball and club. We think the Air score was the lowest of the 4 teams – didn’t actually hear the outcome.

Didn’t have any other photos from today. The entertainment in the evening was a singer who has a good voice but sings the majority of her material in languages other than English. I chose not to attend because I was having an issue with my laptop and running Windows in “coherent” mode on a MacBook Pro. Couldn’t get YouTube video to run (we don’t have streaming service) explaining coherent mode but I think I get the “gist” – and I was able to turn off that mode to get to a desktop I recognized. One more day at sea then we arrive at Bridgetown, Barbados and will go on an excursion to spend time on a beach.

You can view today’s photo here. Actually, you can see it above – there is only 1 photo for today.
