Cold? Not Here!

Monday – January 20, 2025

We’ve heard that back home the actual temperature is below zero – Fahrenheit! Here we are experiencing another beautiful day as shown in the featured photo. Temps in the mid to upper 80’s. Sorry about that!

Spent a good portion of the morning trying to login to this website. After “chats” with several people who did not really understand the issue I was able to access our website and begin uploading media from both 1-19 and 1-20.

Today’s World Cruise game was a hunt for envelopes. Each team had 6 minutes to look for envelopes in the main pool area. At the end of that time the envelopes were opened by the M.C. and numbers were read from pieces of paper inside the envelopes. Some were positive, some were negative. The team’s score was the sum of all the numbers they found. Fire won followed by Water, Air and Earth (which had zero points). Next game won’t be until 1-23 as we sail to Buenos Aires.

We had lunch in the dining room. I had a double helping of the Sour Cherry Sundae dessert. It was very tasty.

Following lunch Kelsey and I attended the classical music show in the theatre. The photos and videos show the pieces being performed. The star of the show was the baritone member of the classical group but I thought the pianist was the real star. She accompanied all the singing as well as playing 2 numbers by herself.

Dinner was largely Brazilian dishes. Jan and I had chicken breast with sugar cane syrup. Also on the plate was okra and sweet potato puree. Both of us left green and orange on our plates but finished the chicken. Jan’s chocolate coconut cake was definitely better than the apples with almonds I had.

The musical presentation today was by the ship’s production cast of 4 singers and 8 dancers. There were many numbers you’ll probably recognize. One of the best was Purple Rain by Prince. With the music there was a woman who attached a cord to her head, was pulled into the air and performed acrobatics while above the stage.

We ended the evening with Kelsey showing us the progress that has been made with a jigsaw puzzle in a forward area of deck 7. There is no picture to indicate what the puzzle will show so solving it is a bit more difficult. Looks like it will be a skyline from a metropolitan area (not USA).

Sounds like plenty was happening in Washington, D.C. today but we really don’t have a good handle on all the festivities and decrees. Will have to catch up on all of that in May.
