Gustavo Strikes!

Friday – February 20, 2026 – at sea to Fiji

Today’s featured photo shows the bottom of an insulated pitcher that contains hot milk. I have mentioned one of the wait staff previously – Gustavo. He brings Jan and I hot milk at breakfast along with a packet of chocolate (which we split). He has been having trouble with other waiters taking his pitchers, so each day puts a label on the bottom to indicate his ownership. Today he made a special effort to say “Good Morning” to me – as you can see from the labels. He didn’t say anything about the labels, but I noticed them when he poured milk for Debra who was sitting to my left. Gustavo and I banter about all kinds of topics, and I like that he is clever. My latest “gift” to him was a couple Dr. Seuss books – The Cat In The Hat and Green Eggs and Ham. This discussion started because one day when a waiter came to take our order I asked for green eggs and ham. The waiter looked at me like a deer in the headlights, so I downloaded that book and brought it for all the wait staff to see. Dr. Seuss just doesn’t have the same rhythm if it is in a language other than English. The wait staff is also not familiar with Hostess Twinkies, so we are hoping we night find some at the Woolworths store in Auckland.

Not much happening today as we cruise to Fiji. Kelsey liked a dessert she ordered for lunch, so I included a photo of it. Also included in the gallery is a photo of the sea – calm with a beautiful sky – and the temperature information. There was a production show this evening, and I included a couple photos of the performers – singers, dancers and acrobats. We are looking forward to the exotic island of Fiji.

Here are the photos from today.
