Tuesday – March 10, 2026 – at sea to Manila day 1
Today’s featured photo shows our relative position with Australia on our West, New Guinea to the North and Manila to the Northwest.
Not a lot to report today. We are sailing along the Eastern coast of Queensland, Australia then will turn Northwest as we head to Manila with an arrival scheduled for Sunday, March 15th. Since we didn’t stay in Cairns as long as planned, we may arrive in Manila earlier than our original 4:00 pm time – should know in the next day or two.
Today’s World Cruise game was to guess the starting year for companies known worldwide – like Apple, Toyota, BMW, Sony, Amazon, Starbucks, Microsoft, etc. I believe there were around 20 that we had to identify. Air named 5 correctly (either the exact year or closest to it). The winning team had 7.
Following the game, we had lunch in the dining room. There is a photo today of one of the head waiters we see nearly every day – Mayra. She is from South-central Mexico. She always has a smile for us, and I remember early in the cruise she asked our dinner table if there was anything we would like changed. We asked that butter be put on the table each evening (which wasn’t being done even though they always offer fresh-baked bread). Next day butter was on the table and has been each day since. It is attention to detail by the staff that makes us say the staff on board is perhaps the best parts of our journey – not the ports of call.
Returning to our cabin we saw islands as we sailed North. There is a photo of one of them in the gallery. There are also a couple screengrabs that show where we are. Also in the gallery is a photo of one of the ships we passed today – a cargo ship perhaps carrying grain or packaged product like fertilizer.
Don’t remember what the theme was for evening dinner but I do remember we had fresh tuna. They even had a full-sized real tuna on display at the entrance to the restaurant. It had been frozen and was beginning to release tuna odor by the time we left (around 7:30).
There was a production show this evening in the theater. It was named “Bon Voyage”.
Here are the photos for today’s gallery.
