Sunday – April 12, 2026 – at sea to Port Victoria day 4
You may remember that we explained what a ME is – medical emergency. In response to a ME, our ship stopped near the Southern end of the Maldives so a passenger could be transported by boat to the island where they could be loaded on a plane and flown to a hospital. The featured photo today shows the view from or balcony with the bridge extension at the left and the island in the distance.
Today’s gallery includes a screenshot showing our location when we stopped for the ME. There is also a video showing the width we could see of the island – fairly good size. We were not far from the equator so the temperature was warm. We were stopped for about an hour as we waited for the patient to be transferred. The transfer took place on the port side of the ship – one of our breakfast table mates has photos of the patient and family getting in the boat.
Today’s World Cruise game involved moving a golf ball across the deck with 2 irons (golf type – not ironing type) while following a marked course and depositing the golf ball in a jar. Team with the most golf balls in the jar within the allotted time won – it was not Air today.
The theme in the restaurant was “American Day” but the menu did not reflect American food. However, decorations (including napkins) were red, white and blue.
The show this evening in the theater was one we saw on the 2025 World Cruise – a magician named Paolo Giua with an assistant named Dayna. For one of the illusions he used a child from the audience – there is a photo of them in the gallery. He also had someone in the audience pick a card from a deck then he guessed the card by making the cards identity appear by burning it into a newspaper (3 of diamonds). His final illusion was to make snow appear from empty hands. The show was entertaining and neither Kelsey nor I could figure out how he performed the tricks.
Here are today’s photos and a video.
