Cruise The World With Us 2026

Petits Fours

Tuesday – May 12, 2026 – at sea to Civitavecchia (Rome) day 4

Today’s featured photo is what was delivered when Jan ordered Petits Fours from the evening menu as her dessert. She was expecting small square or round cakes but instead was given macaroons. Kelsey has been looking for macaroons this entire voyage – they used to serve them at afternoon tea but did not do so this year. Can you guess who ended up with Jan’s dessert today?

Only 2 days until we reach the port of Civitavecchia where disembarkation will begin for the 2026 World Cruise. Carl and Yvonne will be leaving then as will many who started this journey from the area of Rome. The crew has begun to say “Goodbye”. In the gallery you can see one area that was decorated as such. Groups within the ship are doing the same. We had meetings by language to explain disembarkation. Those meetings ended with the cruise staff wishing us well in the theater. There is a photo in the gallery of the English farewell.

This morning we sailed past the Spanish Sierra Nevada mountains. We viewed them at the beginning of the cruise as well. You could see that some of the snowcap has melted. As we travel East our path will fall directly South of Joe and Deborah’s home in Alicante. I doubt we will be able to see it but I know it is out there and there is a golf course nearby!

This afternoon I captured more ships passing – container, bulk carrier and tankers. Late in the afternoon there was a farewell party for English-speaking passengers. It was held in the Tiger Bar and culminated with a group photo on the stairway leading from the Tiger Bar to the casino on deck 7. Most of our breakfast friends were in that photo as well as Edgar and Cuca from San Diego.

At dinner the food and beverage department said their farewell with ice sculptures at the restaurant entrances, gifts for the women and song and dancing from the waiters following the meal. I might say the macaroons were also a part of that farewell (at least in Kelsey’s mind).

The evening show in the theater was preceded by a farewell from all the nationalities represented in the crew – 54 in all. The show was pirate-themed and titled “Treasure Island”. It included performances by singers, dancers, acrobats and jugglers and ended with the senior crew and department heads coming on stage to wish us farewell. The gallery includes the last photo of Kelsey with her best friend during the cruise – Sonia.

Here are today’s gallery items.
