Monday – February 9, 2026 – at sea to Hilo day 3
Today’s featured photo shows Pia (one of the Air team leaders) posting a new total of wins on the World Cruise game board. Today we won in large part to preparation Jan and I did for this game. The game was to name all the active cruise ships in the MSC portfolio. As of today, there are 23 such ships. This game was played on the last World Cruise, and we thought it would come up on this cruise. We looked for the list of MSC ships on the CruiseMapper app. We divided the list into 2 groups of 10 – Jan memorized the 10 oldest and I memorized the next 10. We each memorized the newest ships (including 2 that are due to release in 2027).
Game time arrived and there was a twist we were not expecting – not only were we to identify the MSC ships in order but we were also to include the year built! We got to work laying down the list so our group could estimate the build dates. We knew a few of them – like the first (MSC Armonia – 2001) and our ship (MSC Magnifica – 2010) but had to estimate the others. In the end we posted 14 correct entries. The next closest team had 9 – so an easy win. In today’s photos you’ll see the lists Jan and I memorized and a list of all the ships with their build years.
Tonight was Argentina Night (not a favorite of Gustavo’s). Jan had a dessert she liked – Key lime pie – so I included a photo.
The entertainment this evening was Thiago Uehara. He has parents from Italy and Japan and was born in (and lives in) Brazil. Kelsey said he was one of the entertainers on the 2024 World Cruise. She was disappointed that his final song wasn’t “New York, New York” like last year but his show was good.
Here you’ll find today’s photos.
