Thursday – May 7, 2026 – at sea to Mindelo day 7
If you have ever attended a dance recital for your child, you can imagine the atmosphere today as the children on the World Cruise performed for us. The featured photo shows many of the children who strutted their stuff or sang for us. The littlest ones were not in the group photo I took and there were some in the audience who did not sing and dance, but this group included the rest. The show was great with plenty of “Ooops!” moments. My favorite was at the end of one of the numbers when a girl at the center of the stage couldn’t decide whether to exit stage left or stage right. The kids gave it their all and the audience responded in kind. It would be a great thing if the entire world could experience the joy from such a show each and every day of the year!
Today’s gallery contains a few more photos not from the talent show. You’ll find an early morning and late evening screenshot of our location. The latter shows us near the island of Santiago (where the ship with the hantavirus infection has been anchored offshore). We passed approximately 15 miles from that ship. About the time I took that screenshot we received a printed note from the captain explaining where that ship had traveled, where we had traveled and concluding “…the risk of being exposed to this virus is virtually non-existent.”. I agree with his conclusion but I couldn’t help but remember the story line of the 2011 movie Contagion!
Prior to the kids talent show there was a get-together/party for English-speaking passengers in the Tiger Bar. Drinks and snacks were served then a group photo was taken on the stairs leading to deck 7. We will check out the photo – we still have 2 free photos to select (but haven’t been in any we are aware of with the exception of this one).
Last year when we reached Mindelo we were on the 9th day of that cruise. Tomorrow when we dock at Mindelo we will have 9 days remaining on this voyage!
This is where to find the gallery.
