Wednesday – April 22, 2026 – at sea to Cape Town day 2\The three tenors were well known. There were Luciano Pavarotti, Plácido Domingo, and José Carreras. On this cruise, we were serenaded by the 7 Tenors with their rendition of Volare. The featured photo for the day shows them mid-sing. You may recognize them by their real-life names – the senior staff of MSC Magnifica. From left to right, Guglielmo Gargiulo (hotel director), Giovanni Caso (food & beverage director), Gianfranco (not really an officer – he is a band leader – was included as a joke), Pietro Sarcinella (Master of the Vessel), Michele Schettino (staff captain), Antonino Mastellone (chief engineer) and Luca Amitrano (safety officer). This group appeared during the second of the crew talent shows during the cruise. There are a few other photos from that show including the finale with all the participants on stage.
The only other photos in today’s gallery are from the World Cruise game. 2 people each hold a string with one hand. In the middle of that string is another string hanging with a nerf ball at the end. They try to knock down bottles of water using the nerf ball. Team which knocks down the most water bottles wins. Air did not win but we did knock down some bottles. Harder than it may look because the mass of the nerf ball doesn’t provide much force to knock over the water bottles filled with water.
Now it is 4 days until we reach Cape Town. I’m listing that because we are excited about an excursion we have booked for the second day in Cape Town – to see South African penguins!
