Cruise The World With Us 2026

The Eternal Artist

Sunday – February 1, 2026 – at sea to San Diego

Today’s featured photo is the sunrise. A sunrise as beautiful as today could only be crafted by God. In today’s photos there are 3 snapshots taken over a period of 12 minutes. It amazes me how much the landscape can change in so short a time. I find it awe-inspiring to watch and it usually leads me to ask why we have been blessed to witness such beauty.

It was windy and chilly this morning but nothing like many of the states of the USA are experiencing (near or below freezing in Florida). World Cruise games were held on deck 13 near the pool and the weather made it harder to complete today’s challenge. Using teams of 4, we were to use ball-point pens to “grab” and move a tennis ball from its perch on top of a 2-liter bottle on one table to the top of another 2-liter bottle on a second table (positioned at the same location on the second table). Each of the teams was given 5 minutes to move as many balls as possible. You could not touch the ball with anything but the pen point and all 4 pen points must touch the ball at all times. None of the teams were able to accomplish the task. So, the rules were changed so that the teams became 2 rather than 4 and the time was reduced from 5 minutes to 2 minutes. Again, none of the teams was able to complete the task. Team leaders were up next with the same time limit. Water moved zero tennis balls – Earth moved 3 – Fire moved 4 and Air moved 1. Fire was triumphant today (at least Water didn’t win again!).

Tonight’s theatre show is titled “Simply The Best” and features some of the hits from Tina Turner. There was a woman contortionist who performed during one of the songs that was amazing. She was able to lie face down on the stage, bring her legs over her head with feet flat in front of her and then curl herself forward to stand. Never seen anything like that!

We have reserved a car for pickup at the San Diego airport on Monday and plan to drive to the San Diego Zoo Safari Park to spend the day with animals. Jan and I have been to this park several times – Kelsey has not. Since we have not visited for over 35 years, we expect some things may have changed. One thing that has changed is our admission price – during the month of February, persons 65 and older are admitted at no charge! Following the Safari park we will be stopping at Best Buy to pick up a solid-state drive to store all the photos and video from our trip (I left mine at home – hope that is the only thing forgotten). We may also pick up some Mountain Dew at a store – nowhere on the cruise do they serve this drink that both Jan and Kelsey consume at home. When we return to the ship, we hope to have time to watch our “every February 2nd” movie – “Groundhog Day”.

Here are today’s photos.
