Results were tabulated and team Water won the World Cruise Games for 2025. There was a special party at 10:15 to announce the winner and they did with cake to share for all the World Cruise Games participants. You’ll find several photo of the cake and results in today’s media. Our team – Air – had lots of near misses but those don’t count for anything other than to show we tried.
The activity today started early as we sailed past the Rock of Gibraltar sometime after midnight. I’m not sure of the time because we set our clocks ahead overnight and I don’t know when that took place. I set up the camera to take a time lapse. Since is was dark and cloudy you can’t make out the rock well but it is center frame of the video at 32 seconds into the time lapse. There are many lights on shore which are all the businesses West (left) of the rock. To the East (right) of it is darkness. I should have expected it because all shipping into and out of the Mediterranean passes through this area – there are many, many ships in the time lapse – and some of them were traveling fast.
Next in the media are some selections from the evenings dinner. One that was a surprise for dessert was macaroons. Kelsey has become very fond of those from her exposure to then at afternoon high tea. When she saw them as a selection in tonight’s menu you could see her eyes light up. I’m not sure if what Subagia brought her was the normal serving size – he knows how much she likes them.
Following dinner there was a “Thank You” gathering in the theatre put on by the ship’s command staff with words of appreciation from the captain.
Entertainment for the evening was a show named “Life Is Magic”. Kelsey took several video clips you’ll find in the media.
We have begun to pack and will continue tomorrow to confirm if a new suitcase is needed (probably will be). Hopefully when we go on excursion in Palermo Saturday we will be able both to pick up a suitcase and find a friendly ATM we can use to provide Euros for tips to the cabin stewards and wait staff. Time will tell.
