January 11, 2025 – Saturday
Each day we are at sea, at noon the captain announces statistics about our journey. However, when you look out from the ship and all you see is water, that doesn’t really tell you where you are. I included a map of our cruise as the featured photo so you can follow along.
As long as the port side of our ship faces East, I’ll try to record about an hour and a half of the sunrise for that day. Video 1 is such a sunrise. Once we get to the Southern tip of South America I’ll switch to recording sunsets if our schedule permits.
We didn’t have much scheduled for today so we went to the stern of deck 13 so I could catch up on reporting for Magala and Casablanca (photo 2). Jan and Kelsey went shopping for a smaller purse for Jan – which they found. They were given a bonus for the purchase and you a see it in photo 3. The gift was a beach play set with bucket, rake, watering can and shovel. Not sure where we will pack that to take it home!
Jan and I ordered mahi-mahi for dinner (photo 4). Our dessert was a mouse with mixed berries (photo 5).
During the night of January 10/January 11 an envelope was slipped under our door with an invitation aimed at repeat World Cruise travelers. That is NOT us (photo 6). We went to Guest Services and explained the error. They checked and said we could attend – so we decided to do that. The celebration was before the night’s show in the theatre. Photo 7 shows Jan and Kelsey toasting at the party.
We went to the show which started by telling us about a game that would be plaid. The travelers on ship are divided into 4 groups – Earth, Fire, Water and Air. We are in the Air group. Video 8 shows part of the promo done to let everyone know about the games.
The evening’s entertainment was music – a trio named Vocal Extr3me (that is not a typo), Videos 9 and 10 are a couple clips from the show.
Photos 11 and 12 show the map and country flags for our ports of call. Following the music we went to a lounge to get further info about the Air group. Phiotos 13 and 14 are the co-leader of our group. It took over an hour to apply the sparkly items on and around her lips and face.
So where are we? If I remember correctly we are about 550 nautical miles from Casablanca on our way to Mindelo, Cape Verde (we arrive there on January 14). We have crossed one time zone and will cross another Sunday evening. at that point we will be 5 hours ahead of home.
